MONTESSORI-ALIGNED BOOKS

I remembering searching for Montessori-aligned books to add to our collection and all I can read about is that Montessori books should KEEP IT REAL. Since children are more interested with the world around them, books with real photos would be ideal. To be honest, I found that limiting. Since then, I was on-the-hunt for books that would fit our family while still following Montessori as our guide.

What makes a book a Montessori-aligned book? Montessori-aligned books:

📚 have real life photos of people and/or things. It would be ideal if the book represents life experiences (rather fairy tales or books with talking animals. Don't get me wrong, we have a few and we have animal puppets that are well-loved.)

📚 are designed according to the child's age. Board books or books from the Indestructible series are ideal for younger ones. They are robust, perfect size for little hands, short, and written with simple sentences.

📚  are simple yet beautiful. Personally, I prefer books with white background. It allows me and Alex to focus on a specific concept or story of the book. Check out Abrams Appleseed's books as examples!

Feeling like the choices are limited? I have these four beautifully illustrated books about real life experiences! These books have stunning hand painted pages with realistic images.

1. BABY LOVE by Angela DiTerlizzi

Nothing could be real than this book! Think about pages of a family's home with toys all over the house, that is how REAL this book is. This board book is peaceful, emtional, raw, and beautifully illustrated.

Yes, it must be baby love.

2. BABY BE KIND by Jane Cowen-Fletcher

This book showcases empathy and kindness, which the world needs today. What are some ways to be kind? Taking turns, saying sorry WHEN YOU MEAN IT, or even sharing a cracker... Such an adorable feel-good book that should be in everyone's bookshelf.

3. BABY LOVES from The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Artistic family? Then get this book! This book is such a great way to celebrate babies' precious milestones and first experiences. The paintings are AMAZING! And you can browse about each one at the back of the book.

4. BABY BEATS by Karen Blair

The drawings in this book is simply gorgeous! Showcasing a diverse set of children, Baby Beats is a lovely book to introduce sounds, musical instruments, and creating an harmonous music with everyone.
